Compare it to Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa sallam ) Always ask yourself the question , Am i doing what ALLAH ( the Most wise ) expects me to be doing right now ?

hmm.. u all described how you 'feel' productive, but i was referring to specific measurable way to define productivity? e.g. is it completing 3 major tasks at work? praying 5 times a day? reading one juz'a? being able to balance deen, work, home, and family? sleeping early and waking up early and working in early hours?...etc.

If I could measure productivity - I would be too afraid of becomming satisfied with my Islam and not trying to improve it. Productivity is proven in the next life for me - I cant prove it in this life. Productivity for me is a verb - I dont stop to measure it. and Allah knows best.

For me, i don't measure how productive i am, because if i do, it's frustrating. Instead, i reflect on what i did and how am i going to improve it somehow. Salam to everybody...

He used to get up at night for optional prayer but abandoned it later.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].~ouch! if one starts a good deed, she/he should try her/his best to do it perpetually because its perpetuation is liked by Allah.

@ Muhajidah/Jelah - v.interesting comments. It's true, it's hard to measure productivity in absolute terms, but u can measure it in relative terms. Are you as productive today as you were yesterday? or more?. The person who constantly doesn't improve him/herself is being unproductive, regardless how "active" they are... Also, productivity can be ... See Moremeasured in relative terms to other people. You might think you're productive, but in relation to the Companions of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), you still got a long way to go... i think my message from this question, is that we should measure productivty relatively to keep ourselves always improving, always developing and never stopping.. this is what I love about Islam, there's always 'more' you can do, there's always room for improvement for you to attain firdaus Al-Jannah! Ameen! :D Thanks everybody!

If I can't recall a half-hour at some point in the day that I did nothing, then I consider that day productive.
