merancang utk menonton laskar pelangi (walaupun dah lamaaa), setelah direkemen dan dipromosi oleh ramai kawan dari kalangan bulatan kawan saya dan yea, telah mencuba utk menontonnya, tetepi hanya berjaya sehingga ke bahagian ke-2 di youtube. hueh. telah juga mencuba mencari video yang mempunyai sarikata, tetapi gagal. ha ha. dan kemudian beralih semula ke aktiviti melompat blog. dan secara kebetulan, telah menjumpai satu tulisan mengenai suatu movie yg mesti-tonton. hee hee. inilah dia hasilnya!
ARRANGED! tis a must-watch movie. i likeee, i loveee, i loikeee this movie more than how much i used to love Juno and Yasmin Ahmad's movies. like, seriouslyyy. this movie was directed by a non-muslim, yet tidak menyongsangkan utk ditonton. hee hee. oh yea, tis also the first american movie i've ever watched w/o a kissing scene, as far as i can remember. this low budget piece comes w/ a good sense of humor, warmth and intelligence (siap w/in just 17 days je man!). i personally think that this movie has successfully conveyed a positive message, but not in a heavy wayyy. (my kind of movie for this holidays, hee) it focuses on two young women who meet and become friends, they are young first-year female teachers ; one an Orthodox Jewish and the other an observant Muslim. they are assigned to work together in a multi-ethnic school in Brooklyn and over the course of the year they learn and share much in common, not least of which is that they are both going through arranged marriages! and most importantly, it shows the genuine commitment of a slave of Allah despite the fact that some ppl surrounding her claim that she needs to be liberated. hueh. still, she the muslim girl believes that hijab is something cool and is an expression of her belief to what's written in the Quran.
