The Role of a Muslim in Facing the Zionist Enemy – Dr Azzam Al-Tamimi

Confronting the Zionism is not the responsibility of the Palestinians alone or the responsibility of the Arabs alone because the Zionists are not only persecuting the Palestinian but also obstructing the revival of the ummah. In the previous presentation, he said that one of the main reasons why the Zionists choose Palestine is because of the location right in the heart of the ummah. Like when you insert a needle to the heart of the body, the entire body would become paralysed.

1. Jihad; not only being in the battle field and ends up being victorious or a martyr. But being able to speak the truth is also a jihad. Unfortunately many of the Arabs do not do this.

2. To learn and educate ourselves about the history of this cause and to understand it thoroughly and be able to explain to others about what is going on. The role of the enlightened is to enlighten the others who have been absorbed by the media.

3. To know what we really want in Palestine. Do we want a Palestinian state? No, there was never a state there. What do we want then? The British, and the French, they were the ones who drew the new map that became reality later on - which is useless. Egypt receives two and a half billion US dollars every year not to open the Rafah crossing. And Jordan. These countries rely on Americans to protect them. Any single entity or the state that created as a result of the colonial design for that region after the fall of the Othoman Empire is an unviable entity. Why would a Palestinian want to add another unviable entity? What is the real problem in Palestine? They have no state? Ancient Egyptian, ancient Persian, greek, roman, the muslims – khulafa’ ar-rashidun, umaiyah, abbasiyun, to the Uthmaniyah – none of these power removed the Palestinians from their home. But what Zionism has done to the Palestinian? They remove them from their home and invite the Europeans to live there. And this is why the Palestinian movement should exercise the right of the Palestinian to have their father’s land back, to return back to their home. A Palestinian movement, a Palestinian leader whether it is Yaser Arrafat, Hamas or Ahmad Yassin is not sacred by itself. They are people; they might be right and might be wrong. But what really matters is the idea. The idea is sacred that there is no place for Zionism in Palestine. So when the PLO is created in 1964, the Palestinians were so happy because they thought they have an organisation that will liberate their land. And then they only came to realize that it is merely an organization to console the Arabs in order to absorb themselves from the responsibility of the Palestine. In 1965 – Fatah came to existence. And Palestinians were so happy ‘cause Fatah said that they want to liberate the whole Palestine. 10 years later, 1974, Fatah decided to change its mind – started thinking about establishing a Palestinian state on any piece of land that can be liberated or given to the Palestinian. That’s not what we're supposed to support. And then later Hamas was established. Hamas said Zionism has no place in Palestine, so we support Hamas. And if Hamas is going to change its mind, we’re not going to support Hamas. Zionism has no place in Palestine. That’s the idea we need to support. The great sin of the Arab countries in dealing with the Palestinian issue is that when they declared the PLO.

4. We should remain determined to boycott Israel in any possible way we can. Boycott Israel and boycott the companies that are known to support Israel. And we need to be very specific and focused. There are companies and films that are owned by Israelis or that are publicly in support of Israel which needs to be short listed and boycotted. We need to urge the governments in the muslim world to boycott Israel.

5. Now we have important countries like turkey, iran, Syria, sudan, libiya that seeming to oppose the camp that is called the moderate camp. The moderate camp led by Egypt and Saudi Arabia believes that we are incapable to go against the Zionism. They believe that the Zionism is so powerful. Aren’t they believed that Allah is capable to change anything He wants? They were the imposters in gaza last December and January. Hence an opposite camp has to be formed which includes countries like turkey, iran, Malaysia hopefully also Indonesia, Nigeria, and few arabs countries that are daring to challenge America and in addition to the liberation by hamas and hezbullah. We are not supposed to be shy to support this camp and to fight the propaganda made by America about Iran using the Palestinian cause etc etc.

6. Corruption of Egypt – min 20:25.

7. We need to have courage. Something needs to be done. To bring the siege to an end. If George Gallaway can bring caravan from Scotland to gaza, why can’t the Malaysian or the Indonesian?

8. Finally we need to initiate a global movement against Zionism. In US, they have liberal democracy – people are so comfy and sit blindly. They don’t care for what their government has done to other countries. But only worried when there’s an economic disasters, and when they have to send their children to fight in Iraq. However the Americans are nice, the thing is that their media is corrupted that the Americans do not have the true idea of what is going on in Palestine. So it is again the role of the community to communicate to the world. Link up with global environment. “I urge you when you put yr head on yr pillow when you’re going to bed, ask yourself, what am I doing about Palestine, about al-Aqsa? Have you done your bit? I believe that everyone has a role to play, different ability, and different talent to contribute. Then find out what you can do. If you can speak well, then speak! If you can write, then do write, whether it is in malay or anything. Then link to the media. Why is television showing comedies and drama all the time? Wasting our lives. If we need to produce an alternative media, then do it.”

9. Have you been talking about the Palestine with your colleagues at school, at work? Have you been urging them to do something? Are you able to start a project and invite others to join you? You need to think of what you yourselves are capable of doing. Because on the Day of Judgment, Yaumul Qiyamah, we come individually and being questioned. HAVE YOU DONE YOUR BIT? And I hope I’m not offending you to say this, every single of you can be the Mahdi. What is the Mahdi about? If we take one of the least daif hadith, the Mahdi is about an attitude, a character, a person who is guided, and a person who feels responsible.

10. Conclusion – the story of Salahuddin: min 34:25. Changing the condition of the ummah is not something we can do it over night. It is something that requires an effort. We may not see it with our eyes. But we can work for it. Like imam abu hamid al-ghazali who diagnosed that the ummah is not in a good shape that time when al-quds, Jerusalem fall to the Crusaders. And then he started a school for the kids. Some kids who are thought in that school, long after he passed away became important scholars. And some became the teachers of Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi. Let us take the way for the revival of the ummah and the liberation of al-quds, inshaAllah.

keep abreast, there is no excuse for muslims to be ignorant!
